The process $\gamma + t \to n + d$ is treated by means of three-body integral equations employing in their kernel the W-Matrix representation of the subsystem amplitudes. As compared to the plane wave (Born) approximation the full solution of the integral equations, which takes into account the final state interaction, shows at low energies a 24% enhancement. The calculations are based on the semirealistic Malfliet-Tjon and the realistic Paris and Bonn B potentials. For comparison with earlier calculations we also present results for the Yamaguchi potential. In the low-energy region a remarkable potential dependence is observed, which vanishes at higher energies.Comment: 16 pages REVTeX, 8 postscript figures included, uses epsfig.st

Abstract. Radiative nucleon-deuteron capture and photo disintegration of the three-nucleon bound state with two-body final states are described. The description uses nucleon degrees of freedom extended to include the excitation of a single nucleon to a ∆-isobar. The baryonic interaction and the electromagnetic current couple nucleonic states and states with a ∆-isobar. Exact solutions of three-particle scattering equations are employed for the initial or final states of the reactions. The current has one-baryon and two-baryon contributions. The role of the ∆-isobar in the description of the considered photo reactions is discussed and found to be moderate. The spin observables Ayy and T20 at 90• lab scattering angle can be calculated model-independently from the E1 Siegert term in the long-wavelength limit.

Abstract. The total cross section of the capture reaction 2H(n, t)'y has been measured at En = 25 MeV using a deuterium gas target and a scintillation counter telescope. The resulting value o = (7.6 + 0.8)/~b is compared with existing photodisintegration data and theoretical calculations.Photodisintegration of 3H and 3He connects the initial ground state of a bound three-nucleon system with the final three-body continuum state and is thus a tool to investigate the three-body wave function in its more general aspect. The twobody photodisintegration of 3He and its inverse, radiative p-d capture, have been studied both experimentally and theoretically mainly in the low-energy region co ~< 35 MeV.
