Ziziphus spina-christi Leaf-Derived Carbon Dots as a Fluorescence Nanosensor to Evaluate Rifaximin Antibacterial via Inner Filter Effect: Greenness and Whiteness Studies

Abstract: Rifaximin (RFX) is a non-absorbable antibiotic with broad-spectrum efficacy. It treats travelers’ diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, non-systematic bacterial diarrhea, bowel infections, overgrowth syndrome, and enteric infections. In this work, carbon dots prepared from Ziziphus spina-christi leaves’ powders are utilized as a green fluorometric biosensor for the assessment of RFX. The morphological lineaments of the prepared carbon dots were recognized by using TEM and SEM techniques. The prepared carbon dots… Show more

“…It has become increasingly important for the scientific community to incorporate green analytical chemistry (GAC) as well as white analytical chemistry (WAC) principles into their everyday work so that they can achieve an appropriate balance between the method's greenness, its usefulness, and the practical and financial considerations [ [46] , [47] , [48] , [49] , [50] , [51] ]. Multiple indicators have been created in recent years to assess the environmental impact of analytical techniques.…”

“…Additionally, the study introduces the use of three advanced green tools-Complex GAPI, [38][39][40][41] AGREE, 34,[42][43][44] and AGREE prep 41,45 to assess the greenness impact of the developed procedure. For all reported methods, the greenness study didn't discuss, but using some organic solvent and metal oxide, preparing process of nanomaterials, and using high temperature make them less greenness.…”
