Ancient orogens within the supercontinent like Columbia can remain stable evolution as long as the cratons. What kind of lithospheric mantle was beneath those orogens and how it evolved into a stable state are still enigmatic. The Trans‐North China orogen (TNCO) is one of the typical collisional orogens within the Columbia supercontinent and was formed at ca. 1.85 Ga. Our work reveals that a cluster of kimberlites intruded the orogenic belt at ca. 1.54 Ga. These rocks were originally generated under a thick lithosphere (>200 km). Their entrained olivine cores show a composition of overlapping olivines from refractory mantle peridotites. The results suggest a thick and refractory lithospheric mantle beneath the TNCO at ca. 1.54 Ga. Such craton‐like property may result from large volume melt extraction from the lithospheric mantle, possibly caused by the ca. 1.78 Ga large igneous event, which eventually induces the long‐term stability of the TNCO during the subsequent supercontinent cycle.

Mafic enclaves in granite are generally considered to represent coeval mafic melts that derived from metasomatized mantle, which can provide key information about crust-mantle interaction. Zircon U-Pb dating indicate that the mafic enclaves (219 ± 4.6Ma) display identical ages with the host monzogranite (214 ± 2.8Ma). Detailed whole-rock chemistry and zircon Lu-Hf works for the Triassic Zhaishui pluton reveal a cognate origin. Both of them share similar trace element geochemistry and zircon Lu-Hf isotopic compositions (monzogranite: εHf(t)= -0.99 to + 1.98; mafic enclaves: εHf(t)= -0.45 to + 3.26), suggesting common source region. However, detailed mineral chemistry reveals different crytallization condition between the mafic enclaves and host monzogranite. The amphibole in mafic enclaves reveal higher temperature and pressure (757℃, 2.65kbar) than those of the host monzogranite (733℃,1.96kbar). The temperature and pressure (587℃, 0.95kbar) of the Biotite in t mafic enclaves are consistent with that of the host monzogranite (599℃, 1.08kbar). Apatite in the mafic enclaves display slightly higher volatile contents (0.72 wt.%) than those of the apatite in the monzogranite (0.66 wt.%). These results indicate that the mafic enclaves represent early mafic accumulation in hybird granitic chamber, subsequent convection in magma chamber resulted in the formation of the mafic enclaves.

The Qinling Orogenic Belt (QOB), formed by the subduction and collision between the North China Block (NCB) and the South China Block (SCB), is a key area for exploring the tectonic process and timing of integration between the two blocks. A range of tectonic models have been proposed with regard to the subduction and collision of the QOB, but controversy in the timing and integration process still remain debatable, especially in the late Palaeozoic orogeny. The South Qinling Belt (SQB) is located between the Shangdan and Mianlue sutures, widely dispersed sediments outcropped in the SQB provide natural ground for the detrital zircon study, that could trace the sedimentary provenance and continental crustal evolution history, thus provide important evidence for the late Palaeozoic evolutionary processes in the QOB. In this study, we applied a detailed geochronological U‐Pb zircon dating of the Silurian, Devonian and Permian sedimentary rocks from the SQB. The result of the U‐Pb isotopic data shows distinct age populations at 439–474 Ma of the Silurian samples, ca. 400–490 Ma of the Devonian samples and 260–310 Ma of the Permian samples, respectively. By comparing the regional geochronological data, we sum up that the Silurian detrital zircons are mainly derived from the SQB and the northern margin of SCB (N‐SCB), the Devonian detrital zircon age populations are dominated by the North Qinling Belt (NQB) and SQB and the Permian sediments mainly stemmed from the southern margin of the North China Block (S‐NCB) and the NQB. A mutual age population of the Devonian sediments at ca. 400–490 Ma from the NQB constrains the closure of the Shangdan Ocean between the NCB and the SCB before the middle Devonian times. Ca. 260 ~ 380 Ma age population of the Permian sediments show similarities with the age data from the northern margin of the NCB, indicating an uplift event of NQB before the late Permian, and further constrains the closure of Mianlue ocean later than Permian times.
