“…To the south, it is bounded by a storm‐ and wave‐dominated shelf developed in the Song Hien rift (Komatsu et al, 2010), and separated from the Permian to Triassic magmatic belt of northeast Vietnam by the Babu and Wenshan‐Malipo fault zones (Figure 2). The development of the Song Hien rift in the southernmost part of the basin is expressed by felsic volcano‐sedimentary strata intruded by alkaline mafic to ultramafic sills (Lepvrier et al, 2011; Svetlitskaya et al, 2022; Figure 2), and has been mostly ignored in earlier interpretations of the basin.…”

“…Mafic-ultramafic rocks derived from picritic and basaltic magmas are widespread in the orogenic belts of Central and Southeast Asia and are related to large igneous provinces (LIPs) [1]. Recent study of mafic-ultramafic layered intrusions with sulphide mineralization has been undertaken in south-eastern Siberia [2][3][4][5], Vietnam [6][7][8][9], China [10][11][12][13][14] and Mongolia [15][16][17]. Such intrusions are derived from mantle magmas and their study contributes significantly to petrological models and reconstruction of the evolutionary history of geological structures.…”
