Zinc Oxide: Development of novel products for weaned piglets

Abstract: Diarrhea in piglets is one of the main causes of animal death before and after weaning; In recent decades, zinc oxide has been used in high doses to control this disease. These doses are considered to be of concern for the pollutant potential of animal waste through soil and groundwater pollution. New technologies such as nanotechnology, new matrices such as biopolymers and encapsulation are suggestions that appear as possible innovations that can minimize the challenges imposed by piglet weaning.
