Zinc Iodide Complexes of Propaneamide, Benzamide, Dimethylurea, and Thioacetamide: Syntheses and Structures

Abstract: Complexes of zinc iodide with propaneamide EtCONH 2 , benzamide BzNH 2 , dimethylurea MeNHCONHMe, and thioacetamide MeCSNH 2 have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, vibrational spectra and X-ray diffraction. The vibrational spectra indicate coordination of amides through oxygen atoms. The elemental analyses have justified the complexes with the * Dr.

“…There are many examples in literature [53][54][55][56] In the earlier reported polymeric complexes with similar ligands, [CuLN 3 ] n [ClO 4 ·3/ 2H 2 O] n (L = 3,10-bisbenzyl-1,3,5,8,10,12-hexaazacyclotetradecane or 3,10-bisbenzyl-6,13-dimethyl-1,3,5,8,10,12-hexaazacyclotetradecane), Cu(II) ions are bridged by single azide in the μ-1,3 (end-to-end) bridging mode in a trans-position with respect to the azide, and each heterocyclic ligand forms bonds with one copper [59].…”

“…A number of zinc(II) iodide complexes, ZnI 2 L 2 , have been prepared with simple amide ligands, including urea (ACAQAW; Furmanova et al, 2001), acetamide (VIDBOA; Savinkina et al, 2007), and formamide (DIYGUO; Savinkina et al, 2008). Savinkina et al (2009) have also prepared a series of ZnI 2 L 2 complexes with L = dimethylurea (VUCTUJ), thioacetamide (VUCTOD), and benzamide (VUCVAR).…”

“…However, this coordination number is not the most stable for zinc (II). According to data from the literature, one attributes the coordination number 4 to the zinc (II) usually [19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27]; as well as the experimental studies [18] had led to the synthesis of Zn(benzamide) 2 Cl 2 from an equimolar mixture of ZnCl 2 and of benzamide. All these considerations had led to simulate the formation reaction of the coordination compound Zn(Benzamide) 2 Cl 2 .…”
