“…Metal cations with fully filled or empty valence electron shells (e.g., d 0 or d 10 ) could be suitable for this purpose. Such a proposal has been confirmed for several Zn(II)- [102][103][104] and La(III)-based MOFs [105] containing trans-1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylate, bicyclo[2.2.2]octane-1,4-dicarboxylate, or 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-N,N'-dioxide. The reported diffuse reflection (DR) spectra for such compounds have unambiguously proven their very high transparency in UV/vis, at least up to 310 nm.…”

“…Zinc( ii ) and cadmium( ii ) complexes establish one of the most important classes of emissive compounds. 71–121 Earlier, we synthesized a series of mononuclear zinc( ii ) and cadmium( ii ) complexes with hybrid ligands containing a 2,2′-bipyridine moiety and natural terpene (+)-limonene or (+)-3-carene moieties and demonstrated that they exhibit luminescence with the quantum yield increasing in the following order: free ligand < cadmium( ii ) complex < zinc( ii ) complex. 122 The complexes with the limonene derivative demonstrate excitation wavelength–dependent emission with nanosecond and microsecond lifetimes of the excited states.…”

“…Previous studies have revealed that odabco does not suffer from steric hindrance [43], being able to hexa-coordinate different transition metal ions [44][45][46][47] in spite of its bulky alicyclic core. Further, the odabco alicyclic bridge possesses a very high degree of flexibility due to its several inversion, rotation and torsion modes, resulting in very high structural diversity [45,48,49], possible breathing, and ferroelectricity [50][51][52] in the relevant structures. Expanding the family of alicyclic N,N -dioxide-based MOFs towards magnetic and catalytically active transition metal ions, such as Co(II) and Ni(II), could result in new types of functional and dynamic materials.…”
