Zerewitinoff Determination

Abstract: The quantitative determination of active hydrogens in a chemical substance by means of adding methylmagnesium iodide in pentyl ether to the solution of substrate and quantitatively measuring the volume of gaseous methane evolved is generally known as the Zerewitinoff determination.
