Zeolite Thin Films and Membranes: From Fundamental to Applications

Abstract: Zeolite fi lms and membranes have extensively been investigated since 1992. Many new preparation methods and concepts have been developed, such as microwave synthesis, intergrowth supporting substances, covalent linker synthesis, inner-side synthesis, fl uoride-mediated synthesis, variable-temperature synthesis, masking technique, counter-diffusion secondary growth, and pore-plugging synthesis. The remarkable progress made in the preparation has stimulated many application researches of zeolite fi lms and memb… Show more

“…3 Monolayer films of ZSM-5 synthesized on stainless steel and aluminium alloy by in situ hydrothermal crystallization were studied by Wang and Yan. 4 Jia Ding et al performed NH 3 SCR on microfibrous-structured Cu ZSM-5/Alfiber catalysts, which show high activity due to enhanced mass transfer. 5 Yashnik et al studied the effect of different states of copper, isolated Cu 2+ , Cu 2+ with extra lattice oxygen and CuO in Cu ZSM-5 on the NH 3 SCR reaction.…”

“…Zeolite membranes offer several advantages over organic membrane and other types of inorganic membrane due to their attractive characteristics such as adaptability to harsh environment, long-term stability at high temperature and pressure, molecular sieving, catalytic, and selective sorption properties [2]. Due to these properties, zeolite membranes can be used for various applications including gas separation, pervaporation, solvent dehydration, membrane reactors, coating materials, catalytic microreactors, gas sensor, and fuel cells [3][4][5][6][7][8]. Zeolite membrane was firstly prepared by Suzuki in 1987, where a continuous zeolite layer was prepared on a porous support [9].…”
