Zeolite-based biomaterials for biomedical application: A review

Abstract: Abstract. This review focuses on the latest reports of the use of zeolites, natural as well as synthetic, as biomedical materials. Discussion on biocompatibility, non-toxicity, zeolite for drug delivery materials, zeolite for bone implants and implant coatings, and the mechanical properties of polymer-zeolite composites are included. The section on the interaction between body tissues and zeolite-based biomaterials focuses on their biocompatibility, non-toxicity, and bioactivity. The next section concerns drug… Show more
