Abstract: We have previously reported the participation of the protein kinase CK2 in the mechanism by which salicylic acid activates transcription of genes, such as those coding for glutathion S-transferases, in tobacco. With the purpose of further studying the participation of CK2 in this signal transduction pathway, we isolated and sequenced the cDNA from the NtCK2A gene, coding for the catalytic alpha subunit of CK2 from tobacco. The NtCK2A cDNA was isolated by screening of a tobacco cDNA library with a heterologous … Show more

“…Primers for amplifying NbCK2α were based on the flanking sequence of the N. tabacum CK2α ORF (GenBank accession no. AF374474) ( Salinas et al , 2001 ). The PCR products of the NbCK2α and HvCK2α genes were inserted into the Nde I/ Xho I, and Nde I/ Sal I sites of pET-30a(+), respectively, to generate pET-NbCK2α and pET-HvCK2α.…”

“…Furthermore, the presence of CK2 is essential for regulating circadian rhythms, hormone responses, light signaling, and flowering time control [ 57 , 58 ]. The CK2 protein has an evolutionarily conserved role as a component of the circadian clock in a variety of organisms, including diverse plant species, wheat, rice, tobacco, maize, mustard, and Arabidopsis [ 55 , 59 , 60 ]. In this study, the CK2 gene was DEmRNA in the integrated analysis of the transcriptome.…”
