YB1 Is a Major Contributor to Health Disparities in Triple Negative Breast Cancer

Abstract: Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is the most aggressive amongst all breast cancer (BC) subtypes. While TNBC tumors represent less than 20% of all BC subtypes, they are responsible for the most BC-related deaths. More significantly, when considering TNBC incidence across all racial/ethnic groups, TNBC accounts for less than 20% of all BCs. However, in non-Hispanic black women, the incidence rate of TNBC is more than 40%, which may be a contributing factor to the higher BC-related death rate in this populati… Show more

“…By including measures of neighborhood characteristics in combination with clinical variables from a tumor registry and EHR, our ndings extend insights provided by prior studies [7,19,50,51], which have been constrained by the lack of availability of geocoded addresses, comorbidities, and other indicators in tumor registries. Incorporating the ADI to measure neighborhood socioeconomic position alongside patient-reported racial background enabled our study to evaluate the overlapping contributions of socioeconomic position and race more comprehensively.…”

“…ChemiDoc MP Imaging system (Bio-Rad) was used for image acquisition of developed gels. Signal intensity of WB bands was quantitatively analyzed by ImageJ software, as described previously [ 19 ] and according to the parameters described in ImageJ user guide ( http://rsbweb.nih.gov/ij/docs/guige/146.html ).…”

“…Immunoblotting analyses were conducted as previously described with some modification ( Ou et al, 2014 ; Shebaby et al, 2014 ; Rana et al, 2021 ). MDA-MB-231 cells were seeded at a density of 4 × 10 6 /mL per 10-cm Petri dish, and incubated at 37°C with 5% CO 2 until 90% confluence was achieved.…”
