Yb2+3‐xPd12‐3+xP7 (x = 0.40): Different Ytterbium Species in a Substituted Structural Motif of the Zr2Fe12P7 Type.

Abstract: Structure Structure D 2000Yb 2+3-x Pd 12-3+x P 7 (x = 0.40): Different Ytterbium Species in a Substituted Structural Motif of the Zr2Fe12P7 Type. -Single crystals of Yb4.6Pd9.4P7 are obtained from the reaction of the elements at 1100°C (40 h) and subsequent annealing at 800°C (10 d). The compound crystallizes in space group P6 with Z = 1. The atomic arrangement reproduces a structural motif of the hexagonal Zr2Fe12P7 type in which one of the transition metal positions is substituted predominantly by Yb. The yt… Show more
