Y2O3-Modified Ni-Co Composite Coating as Cathode Materials for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction on Titanium Substrate

Abstract: Ni-Co-Y2O3 composite coating was prepared by electrodeposition from an electroplating bath containing a suspension of Y2O3. The morphology and microstructure in view of their possible application as electrocatalytic materials for the hydrogen evolution reaction were characterized by SEM and XRD, respectively. The electrocatalytic efficiency was evaluated on the basis of steady-state polarization, Tafel curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements carried out in 0.50 M Na2SO4 + 0.10 M H2SO4 … Show more

“…[21][22][23][24][25][26][27] Some studies focused on the comparison of these methods by considering surface conditions [28] and pitting potential measurement [22] as well as evaluation of the effect of alloying elements on the pitting susceptibility of stainless steels. [8] Potentiodynamic test is used not only for the evaluation of different parameters affecting localized corrosion, [29][30][31][32][33] but also assessment of breakdown potential distribution of stainless steels. [17] In this work, both techniques are used to characterize localized corrosion of stainless steel grade AISI 304L in solution with different chloride concentration in order to compare the two methods in terms of reliability to determine breakdown and repassivation potentials.…”

“…To improve the ethanol-water pervaporation performance of PDMS membrane, it is desirable to increase the hydrophobicity or ethanolphilicity of the polymer membrane, which could be achieved by adding a hydrophobic polymer into PDMS membrane. 6,7,16,23 The crosslinked F-PBZ has hydrophobic octadecyl and ACF 3 group segments at the side and middle of the polymer chain which endows the polymer with good hydrophobic and ethanolphilic properties. 11 The FE-SEM images shown in Figure 3(a1,a2,b1,b2) revealed clean and smooth surface of pure PDMS and FPDMS-5 membranes, respectively, and the thickness of both membranes is about 80-100 lm.…”

“…5,6 The drawback of PDMS is easily to swell after long time contact with organic-water mixtures. 7 Thus, it is desirable to further improve the hydrophobicity and stability of PDMS polymer. Polybenzoxazine (PBZ), a class of newly developed low surface free energy materials with a wide range of functional groups and near-zero volumetric change upon curing, has attracted great interests from both academia and industry.…”
