“…Analysis of the sex chromosome complements of sperm from XYY men has confirmed the rarity of sex chromosomally aneuploid gametes (Benet and Martin, 1988;Blanco et al, 1997;Chevret et al, 1997). The fertility of XYY men is explained by the fact that they are usually germinal XY/XYY mosaics (Thompson et al, 1967;Melynk et al, 1969;Evans et al, 1970;Hultén, 1970;Chandley et al, 1976;Faed et al, 1976;Speed et al, 1991;Gabriel-Robez et al, 1996). Nevertheless, it is clear from histological assessment of the testes of XYY men that some degree of spermatogenic impairment is common, and in some men it is severe (Hultén, 1970;Skakkebaek et al, 1973;Baghdassarian et al, 1975;Solari and Valzacchi, 1997); the low incidence of XYY men in fertility clinics could be due to a reduced frequency of marriage.…”

“…Thus our finding supports the view of Evans et al (1978) that the mouse system in this regard differs from the human one (Melnyk ct al. 1969;Evans et al, 1970).…”

“…and 1 case had oligozoospermia. The extra Y chromosome in XYY men is eliminated during spermatogenesis [14], Speed et al [ 15] reported that XYY cells reached meta phase I. Han et al [16] found that the overall ratio of X-to Y-bearing sperm did not differ from that of normal donors using double FISH with X and Y chromosome probes.…”
