“…1, we have estimated the value of r and d as À0:088 and 0.108 for US, À0:118 and 0.144 for USe, À0:113 and 0.140 for UTe, respectively. The value of r and d for US is close to those obtained in the previous MCD studies at the M 4;5 edges [4,5].…”

“…The MCD signals at the N 5 and N 4 edges have the same sign (minus in the figure), and the MCD signals at the N 4 edge have much larger intensity than that at the N 5 edge. These properties are the same as observed in the MCD measurements at the M 4;5 edges [4,5]. The magnitude of the MCD signals becomes clearly larger in going from US to USe, and remains almost the same or slightly decreases from USe to UTe, while the line shape is not significantly changed.…”

“…Superconducticity and antiferromagnetic instability in cerium compounds Kernavanois et al 2003) succeed to follow the magnetic ordering closed to P C and thus cannot answer the question of the order of the magnetic transition at P C . At least, in recent neutron scattering experiments up to P = 2.45 GPa, the magnetic transition in T appears second order and any first order transition at P C will be weak (Kernavanois et al 2005).…”

“…26,[28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35] The first and second observations indicate an antiparallel coupling between L and S . From analogy with the result of the uranium compounds, 36,37 the third observation implies that the asymmetric line shapes of the M 5 signal might be sensitive to the environment of the 5f electrons.…”
