“…The X-ray diffraction analysis shows Na + in the crystal lattice of sodium perchlorate monohydrate to be surrounded by two molecules of water and four ClO 4 ions. 34 The cybotactic group dominating in the saturated sodium perchlorate solution 35 is a fragment of the solid-phase structure and has the structure of the unit cell of monohydrate. Therefore, the third spectral form (component) results from the change in the qualitative composition of the neighbours of sodium ions.…”

“…In contrast to the triflate salts, the hydrated perchlorates demonstrate another facet of behaviour. All lanthanides form Ln(ClO4)3.6H2O (Ln = La-Lu except Pm), containing the octahedral [Ln(H2O)6] 3+ ion [44], just as Sc(ClO4)3.xH2O (x = 6, 9) both contain [Sc(H2O)6] 3+ ions (Figure 3c) [38,45]. Y(ClO4)3.6H2O is isomorphous and is presumed to contain [Y(H2O)6] 3+ ions, but its structure has not been investigated in detail [44].…”

“…More recently (2006-2019), structures have been reported for Sc(ClO 4 ) 3 ÁxH 2 O (x = 6, 9), 28,29 [Sc(H 2 O) 6 ][Sc(CH 3 SO 3 ) 6 ] 29 and ScCl 3 Á6H 2 O, 30 all of which contain octahedrally coordinated [Sc(H 2 O) 6 ] 3+ ions. One structure of Sc(ClO 4 ) 3 Á6H 2 O was determined by EXAFS (Extended X-Ray Absorption Fine Structure) methods; all the others are X-ray diffraction studies.…”
