Abstract:The volume fractions of 00 phase Fe 16 N 2 in bulk samples were estimated using X-ray diffraction data. The SPring-8 synchrotron radiation facility was utilized for data collection. Samples were prepared in an NH 3 +H 2 atmosphere, and a magnetic field was applied to reduce the amount of remanent phase. Samples were then annealed for varying times (0.25-512 h). Rietveld analysis was applied to obtain the volume fractions of each phase generated in the samples. The results showed relatively small fractions of t… Show more
The γ iron nitride (nitrogen austenite) was subjected to high magnetic field process in order to drive the fcc→bct martensitic transformation. Molar fraction of martensite monotonically increased with increasing the magnetic field and reached 94% at 35T. With a combination of magnetization and Fe57 Mössbauer spectroscopy data, magnetization of bulk processed α′ phase with 9.6at.% N is determined to be 229emu∕g, the same as that for dc sputtered thin films.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
