“…In addition, a search of articles on "agriculture" was also carried out with the same restrictions in order to analyse the relative importance of the research in GT within this general theme. Given that the results of the same study are frequently published as conference papers, book chapters and articles, in order to avoid duplications, only original articles have been included in the sample [73,74]. “…Wheat is a widely grown cereal crop around the world, and it is considered as staple source of nutrition for nearly 40% of the world’s population and supplies 20% of dietary protein and food calories ( Giraldo et al., 2019 ). The forecast for global wheat utilization has been raised by 1.5 million tonnes for year 2019/20 than in 2018/19, which is mainly due to 3.5% rise in feed use demand ( FAO et al, 2019 ).…”

“…Global population is predicted to increase up to over 9 billion by 2050 [10], which means that the demand will increase by 60% as compared to that in 2010. In order to meet this end, global wheat production must increase by 1.6% annually, compared to the current 1% global increase per year (2001-2010) -reviewed by Giraldo et al [11]. Other initiatives such as the International Barley Hub [12] started to support the increasing demand of grain crops.…”
