World Checklist of Threatened Amphibians and Reptiles

Abstract

Similar checklists are now available for all animal taxa.The aim is to provide a summary of basic information on all species listed in CITES or appearing in the lUCN Red List of Threatened Animals.The inclusion of English vernacular names and a full list of countries in which each species occurs will provide a useful quick source of reference for those assessing applications for CITES permits to import and export amphibians and reptiles. The comprehensive list of references allows access to more detailed information on the status of species in particular countries when this is required.The Nature Conservancy Council, as the United Kingdom's Scientific Authority for Animals, is grateful to Dr Brian Groombridge at the lUCN Conservation Monitoring Centre for revising this document on its behalf.
