Work risk‐prevention procedures in highway management and maintenance contracts

Abstract: Following the great focus on and investment into roads by European administrations in recent years, a new area of employment has arisen wherein the majority of activities relating to the maintenance and operation of infrastructures have been outsourced. The participation of private companies, the organization of the various contracts and maintenance services, and infrastructure users' increasing demand for better quality services, mean that awareness needs to be raised about the subject of work risk prevention… Show more

“…Previous studies have applied quantitative methods such as Petri net, Bayesian network, regression model, and neural network (Georges, 2002;Gyunyoung, 2005;Lee & Seong, 2005;Yang, Yan, & Chen, 2003) to resolve the maintenance problems in NPPs. However, most previous studies have focused on off-line maintenance operations (Adzakpa, Adjallah, & Yalaoui, 2004;Jovanovic, 2003;Masao, 2000;Montes, Gamez, Romero, Mondelo, & Terres, 2007;Sauer, Zimolong, & Ingendoh, 2000). Currently, on-line maintenance for NPPs is performed quite often while the system is in operation, and digital concepts are gradually considered by various industrial designs (Chang & Wang, 2007;Colin, Vergnon, Guibaud, & Borson, 1998).…”

“…The transition from factual registration of injuries to risk management and the development of preventive measures to reduce the impact of production conditions on employee health is the main task (Staseva and Filatova, 2018). It is the search for new approaches to occupational risk assessment that is the main task of an OSH MS today, requiring a timely solution with the implementation of the results obtained on a practical level (Martinez Montes et al, 2007;Liba et al, 2019;Lutkovska, 2020).…”

“…The highway transport sector in Spain represents 2.62% of the Gross Domestic Product and employs 3.05% of the working population, making it one of the most important in Europe (Montes 2007). Although the public spending in Spain decreased 37.9% from 2009 to 2010, highways are the most important sector and represent 37.4% of the total public investment (Ministerio de Fomento 2011).…”
