Women’s rights in the light of the programmes of the victorious political parties in Poland’s 2019 parliamentary elections

Abstract

The provision that directly regulates the problems of equality between women and men is Article 33 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, which states that:Men and women shall have equal rights in family, political, social and economic life in the Republic of Poland. Men and women shall have equal rights, in particular, regarding education, employment and promotion, and shall have the right to equal compensation for work of similar value, to social security, to hold offices, and to receive public honours and decorations.Moreover, equality between women and men is addressed in Article 18 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, worded as follows:Marriage, being a union of a man and a woman, as well as the family, motherhood and parenthood, shall be placed under the protection and care of the Republic of Poland.
