guidance and encouragement from the earliest days of this project. I would not have reached the end without her help, and I will forever be grateful for the knowledge she shared with me and the conversations we had. To the professors and my fellow students in both the College of Letters and the Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program, who have helped me to be a better student over my past four years at Wesleyan. These people have taught me how to question, how to discuss, and how to build academic community, and I am endlessly grateful for them. To my friends outside of my majors (Clara, Lex, Jaime, Sophie, and many more) for keeping me sane over the course of this project and over the last four years. I love you all dearly. Finally, to my family: my parents, Marcy and Wyman, and my siblings, Abby and Dave, for their constant encouragement and for showing me a love that has never once been 'sick'. I also thank my grandmothers, Barbara Levinson and Anna Bradford, for helping to make me who I am today, and my grandfathers, Joel Levinson and Don Bradford, who are not be able to see me now, but I know they would be proud. Love you forever, fambly.
