Wireless sensor network virtualization: A survey

Abstract: Abstract-Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are the key components of the emerging Internet-of-Things (IoT) paradigm. They are now ubiquitous and used in a plurality of application domains. WSNs are still domain specific and usually deployed to support a specific application. However, as WSNs' nodes are becoming more and more powerful, it is getting more and more pertinent to research how multiple applications could share a very same WSN infrastructure. Virtualization is a technology that can potentially enable t… Show more

“…This is evident from recent surveys focusing on critical investigation of node and network level virtualization in WSNs for IoT [20,21] and applications [22][23][24][25]. Different levels of abstraction have been considered for the same purpose including four layers [8], five layers [2], and hierarchical layers [9].…”

“…By studying the relevant literature, we know that most of the research on the evolution of network topology combines the specific research objects. Among them, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) [7] and online social networks (OSNs) [8] are the most common ones.…”
