The world population is anticipated to increase by close to 2 billion by 2050 causing a rapid escalation of food demand. A recent projection shows that the world is lagging behind accomplishing the "Zero Hunger" goal, in spite of some advancements. Socio-economic and well being fallout will affect the food security. Vulnerable groups of people will suffer malnutrition. To cater to the needs of the increasing population, the agricultural industry needs to be modernized, become smart, and automated. Traditional agriculture can be remade to efficient, sustainable, eco-friendly smart agriculture by adopting existing technologies. In this survey paper the authors present the applications, technological trends, available datasets, networking options, and challenges in smart agriculture. How Agro Cyber Physical Systems are built upon the Internet-of-Agro-Things is discussed through various application fields. Agriculture 4.0 is also discussed as a whole. We focus on the technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) which support the automation, along with the Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) which provides data integrity and security. After an in-depth study of different architectures, we also present a smart agriculture framework which relies on the location of data processing. We have divided open research problems of smart agriculture as future research work in two groups -from a technological perspective and from a networking perspective. AI, ML, the blockchain as a DLT, and Physical Unclonable Functions (PUF) based hardware security fall under the technology group, whereas any network related attacks, fake data injection and similar threats fall under the network research problem group.

The Conventional farming that is practiced in India are insufficient in satisfying as the demand is expanding day by day for agricultural products because of expanding population, Therefore, farmers are in high pressure, even despite of efforts, resources, labor, productive output are not getting for farmers. One way to deal with beat this issue is build up a smart system with less cost means by which the wastage of resources and labor necessity could be cut down and in the meantime the farming profitability would be expanded in quality as well quantity. This paper introduces Smart Farming which is one of the applications of Internet of Things (IOT) and uses Wireless Sensor Networks as transmission technology. The main aim of this paper is to reduce the wastage of water, real time monitoring of crop field and sending data to cloud for future references and text messages are send farmers about the field. Smart System is developed using GSM technology and Data is stored in AWS.

In WSN, LoRa innovation allows the information correspondence on substantial zones, permitting to dispense with multi-jump information transmission that requires an extremely exact synchronization. Because of these points of interest it is being utilized increasingly more in practical solution. Agriculture is one of the fields which have as of late deflected their examination to WSN. There are numerous manual techniques to develop a solid harvest. In any case, it requires a great deal of labor included which is difficult nowadays. So as to make it keen, straightforward and give right contribution to the yield, here we are structuring a remote sensor arrange for savvy agribusiness. Smart agriculture (or Precision agriculture) is applying right contributions at the correct time to get more development with less power and work. This plan gives genuine contribution as indicated by the environment; one can transmit the continuous information rapidly with in the blink of an eye. The constant information depends on the few attributes of climate like temperature, humidity and so on. This structure utilizes Arduino as the centre part. Here a sensor network is planned; every hub has a gathering of sensors (sensor hub) associated with the Arduino and LoRa (Sender/Base Station).The sensors utilized are dampness and temperature sensors. Humidity sensor senses the soil dampness content and temperature sensor sense the warmth in the air. The values which are estimated by the sensors are transmitted to an incorporated gadget which is LoRa (Receiver/Central Station). After the values are gotten by LoRa, as per those values exact choice will be taken.
