Wireless Remote Control for Underwater Vehicles

Abstract: Nowadays, the increasing availability of commercial off-the-shelf underwater acoustic and non-acoustic (e.g., optical and electromagnetic) modems that can be employed for both short-range broadband and long-range low-rate communication, the increasing level of autonomy of underwater vehicles, and the refinement of their underwater navigation systems pave the way for several new applications, such as data muling from underwater sensor networks and the transmission of real-time video streams underwater. In addit… Show more

“…For the control, we did not opt for an ambilical cable because it will limit the maneuvers of the robot [24], and we chose that the control of this robot will be remote and will be based on an arduino HC12 transceiver module. Its frequency range is between 433 MHz and 473 MHz which is already presented in a study [25], remains its adaptation for these modules for a greater depth.…”

“…Other research shows that the main communication cable is combined in single power line that also transmit and receive data and video with Power Line Communication (PLC) methods [7]. Wireless communication research is also already conducted using underwater accoustic communication and underwater optical communication [8][9][10]. Some of the researh in wireless communication is conducted in simulation method with multimodal wireless remote control [11][12].…”
