Wind Energy Reliability Analysis based on Monte Carlo Simulation Method

Abstract: Reliability is defined as the probability that an item will continue to achieve its intended function without failure for a specified period of time under operation conditions. The challenges of addressing energy supply and climate change are expected to drive the growth of renewable-based electrical generation such as from wind. Consequently, worldwide growth in wind energy is expected to increase as more wind turbines are installed to meet clean electricity demand and decrease the usage of fossil fuel. Howev… Show more

“…Specifically in the realm of wind turbines, applying MC simulations allows modeling of uncertainties related to wind conditions and material properties. This method provides a comprehensive perspective on the reliability of the system in a spectrum of scenarios [33], [35], [36]. Additionally, Weibull analysis proves to be a common practice for scrutinizing the distribution of wind speeds [35].…”

“…This method provides a comprehensive perspective on the reliability of the system in a spectrum of scenarios [33], [35], [36]. Additionally, Weibull analysis proves to be a common practice for scrutinizing the distribution of wind speeds [35]. Engineers leverage this method by fitting a Weibull distribution to the observed wind speed data, thereby estimating the likelihood of various wind speed occurrences.…”
