“…Due to this, the study area showed low diversity values (in general, lower than 3.0 bits.ind -1 ) and equitability (generally lower than 0.5). Environmental variability was the principal factor influencing the lowest diversity values in the Solís Grande estuary (Gómez-Erache et al, 2000) in copepod organisms (lower than 1.5) and on the south coast of Portugal (Villa et al, 1997), in phytoplankton and zooplankton communities (lower than 1.8).
