Software process reference models like CMMI and SPICE have played a crucial role in evaluating processes for several decades. Their adoption by institutions has become essential for consistently delivering software projects to customers on time and with expected quality. However, conducting software process assessments demands considerable time, effort, and skilled personnel. This research introduces an ontology-based tool that facilitates software process assessment for organizations by integrating widely-used process reference models, namely CMMI, SPICE, and TMMI. The development of this tool involves multiple stages: creating ontologies for each process reference model, integrating them into the tool, enabling querying capabilities, and visualizing the ontologies. Through a validation study in a selected organization, two sets of processes were assessed using the Ontology-Based Software Process Assessment Tool (OSPAT). The results demonstrated that organizations can benefit from OSPAT in evaluating their software development processes across diverse reference models, thereby enhancing overall process efficiency and quality.

Evaluation of user interface design metrics by generating realistic‐looking dashboard samples

The analysis of user interfaces using quantitative metrics is a straightforward way to quickly measure interface usability and other various design aspects (such as the suitability of page layout or selected colors). Development and evaluation of objective metrics corresponding with user perception, however, usually requires a sufficiently large training set of user interface samples. Finding real user interface samples might not be easy. Therefore, we rather use generated samples. In such case, we need to provide a realistic-looking appearance of samples. This paper describes a workflow of the preparation of such samples. It presents a configurable generator based on the composition of simple widgets according to a predefined model. It also describes a reusable library for simple creation of widgets using capabilities of the JavaScript framework Vue.js. Finally, we demonstrate the applicability of the generator on a generation of dashboard samples which are used to evaluate existing metrics of interface aesthetics and show the possibility of their improvement.

, gaelle.calvary}@imag.fr-{sarah.bouzit, denis.chene}@orange.com RÉSUME Cet article présente MenuErgo, un environnement logiciel de conception d'une barre de menu avec ses menus déroulants et sous-menus d'une interface graphique par évaluation automatique de règles ergonomiques propres aux menus selon quatre stratégies d'évaluation: la stratégie active à l'initiative du système, la stratégie passive à l'initiative du concepteur, la stratégie mixte partagée par les deux et la stratégie par unités conceptuelles basée sur le domaine sémantique. L'architecture logicielle de MenuErgo est composée d'un déclencheur d'évaluation, d'un moteur d'évaluation, d'un présentateur d'évaluation et d'une base de 58 règles ergonomiques dont l'évaluation est assurée automatiquement. Une étude qualitative exploratoire rapporte les réactions de neuf concepteurs ayant utilisé MenuErgo sur une étude de cas de conception de menu pour une application multimédia.
