However, we reported that A. gallica basidiomes collected in Bridgewater, Massachusetts, were monokaryotic and haploid, because no quantitative differences were found when the nuclear DNA content of haploid spores and three different basidiome cell types were compared (Peabody and Peabody, 1985).
