“…Many SIW components, such as filters, couplers, antennas, and so on, have been widely studied and used in various microwave systems. [1][2][3] A dual-mode SIW resonators use 2 modes excited at the same time and causes reduce the number of physical resonators in a SIW filter and therefore improve the area efficiency. Dual mode resonators are realized by perturbing the electromagnetic fields of the SIW resonator in a proper way according to the desired exciting mode.…”

“…, narrow band couplers with 2 slots are introduced and coupling degree can be controlled by the direction and the length of the slots. However, during the research, we find the prior designs are mostly weak coupling couplers utilizing Bethe hole coupling theory and strong coupling couplers are seldom mentioned. The reason is presented as follow: the distance between adjacent apertures is settled to be one‐fourth of the operating wave length, which limits the radius of aperture.…”

“…Coupling is generally achieved using apertures, parallel and cross slots over the entire width of the common conducting wall of the two adjacent SIW structures. The configuration of 10‐dB coupler with six pairs of apertures , 3‐dB coupler with 14 rows of paired circular apertures , 20‐dB coupler with 10 rows , and another in which a 20‐dB directional coupler in the X‐band using the traditional coupling theory and Tchebychev method are found in the literature. However, the number of apertures has affected the size of those couplers.…”
