Wide‐range thermometry based on green up‐conversion luminescence of K3LuF6:Yb3+/Er3+ bulk oxyfluoride glass ceramics

Abstract: Yb3+/Er3+ ions codoped bulk glass ceramics (GC) with embedded monoclinic K3LuF6 nanocrystals are reported for potential temperature‐sensing application by using the fluorescence intensity ratio method. Such GC with good transparency and enhanced up‐conversion were prepared by the simple conversional melt‐quenching method and subsequent annealing process. Optical, structural, and temperature‐sensing up‐conversion properties were characterized systematically. Optical spectroscopy analysis confirms the incorporat… Show more

“…Figure A exhibits the decay curves of 1165 nm emission of Nx samples excited by 467 nm. The average fluorescence lifetime normalτ can be evaluated by the following equation,τ=Ifalse(tfalse)tdt/Ifalse(tfalse)dtwhere the I(t) represents the fluorescence intensity I at time t . The obtained lifetimes for 1165 nm of Nx samples (x = 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) are 473, 531, 529, 491, 481, 454, and 341 μs, which is consistent with that reported in other silicate glass systems .…”

“…5,6 In addition, the N sites can also be occupied by rare earth ions by isomorphic replacement in the cryolite lattice, such as K 3 GaF 6 , 7 K 3 InF 6 , 8 and K 3 LuF 6 . 9 Since the luminescence behavior of rare earth ions depends on the matrix, it is signicant to explore novel cryolite luminescent materials. On the other hand, multicolor single-phase phosphors occupy an important seat in the eld of luminescent materials.…”
