Why Not Escape? On the Hosiotes in Plato’s Crito

Abstract: While the article discusses the factors that motivated Socrates’ decisionin the Crito, it emphasizes the possible cultural import of the choiceundertaken in the aftermath of the political upheavals in the late fifthcentury.
