Whole genome analysis of Enterobacter cloacae Rs-2 and screening of genes related to plant-growth promotion

Abstract: The genus Enterobacter is widely recognized for its biotechnology potential in improving soil environment and crop growth promoting. To further explore these biotechnological potentials, we sequenced and analyzed the whole genome of Enterobacter cloacae Rs-2. The analysis showed that the total length of Rs-2 genome was 6,965,070,514 bp, GC content was 55.80%; The annotation results of GO and COG databases showed that the genome contains a variety of growth-promoting genes, such as iscU, glnA, glnB (nitrogen xa… Show more

“…Instead, a D-cysteine desulfhydrase gene ( dcyD ) was found in the genome of D2. As a homolog of ACC deaminase, D-cysteine desulfhydrase has been reported to be responsible for the ACC deaminase activity of E. cloacae Rs-2 without the acdS gene [ 36 ].…”

“…Moreover, the protracted application of phosphorus fertilizers risks causing soil salinization and pollution, including groundwater contamination due to leaching and transpiration. These environmental quandaries threaten to diminish food production and potentially jeopardize human health ( Wang et al, 2023 ). Unlike nitrogen (N), which has volatile atmospheric forms such as N 2 and N 2 O, phosphorus lacks a soluble atmospheric supply ( Yang and Post, 2017 ).…”
