Who Drives the Transition to a Renewable-Energy Economy? Multi-Actor Perspective on Social Innovation

Abstract: This study examines how various actors influence the transition to a renewable-energy economy. We employ a conceptual framework derived from a literature review and text-mining analysis and establish a panel data model for an empirical test using unbalanced panel data from 25 member countries of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), for the period from 1990 to 2014. We establish a panel vector autoregressive (VAR) model in the first differences and use a bias-corrected least square… Show more

“…Second, I use the CONCOR matrix (correlation or eigenvalue) to determine the similarities and patterns of relationships between the row vectors of each node [51,61]. The CONCOR analysis is performed to identify semantic clustering in the entire network surrounding the topic, to discover hidden subgroups, and to explore the relationships between the groups [62,63]. In this study, SNA is performed based on the correlation matrix between words.…”

“…Our empirical strategy uses a Panel Vector Auto Regression (PVAR) technique. In the wake of the work of Sung & Park [1,32], this methodology combines the traditional VAR approach, in which all the variables in the system are endogenous, with the panel data approach, which allows to borrow strength from the cross-sectional dimension and focus on bidirectional effects.…”

“…The first variable is renewable energy consumption (REC), which is measured by the percentage contribution of renewables to total energy generation. It proxies the degree of transition to a renewable-energy economy [1].…”
