High perceived academic self-efficacy influences both subject performance and emotions of the subject. In turn, dispositional empathy implies a social and emotional adaptability towards the subject itself and those around them. This study aimed to analyze the differences in the mean dispositional empathy factors (i.e., perspective taking, fantasy, empathic concern and personal distress) between future teachers with high and low perceived academic self-efficacy, as well as the predictive capacity of dispositional empathy on high perceived academic self-efficacy, and the correlations between both dimensions. For this, a sample of 805 Spanish students of the Faculties of Education of the Universities of Alicante and Murcia was recruited. The Escala de Autoeficacia Percibida Específica de Situaciones Académicas was used to assess perceived academic self-efficacy and the Interpersonal Reactivity Index was used to analyze the dimensions of dispositional empathy. It was observed that high academic self-efficacy is more likely to present in people with a high level of perspective taking and fantasy (OR = 1.07 and 1.09, respectively) and less for those with personal discomfort (OR = 0.17). The other analyzes provided the same conclusions. In conclusion, it is important to develop perceived academic self-efficacy in undergraduates and future teachers due to the consequences that can lead to their classrooms.

Information complexity hinders consumer processing and reduces positive responses to cause‐related products. Previous studies on cause‐related marketing (CRM) have focused more on messaging effects on reducing information complexity, such as the presentation of the donation amount, cause description, and image displays. This study discusses the effect of construal fit on consumers' willingness to pay (WTP) for products sold through CRM by focusing on the emotional and perceptual aspects of prior experiences. Notably, sadness has a low‐level construal fit with a high similarity of experience, whereas happiness has a high‐level construal fit with a low similarity of experience. Study 1 employs a between‐subjects design, examining how the construal fit influences WTP for cause‐related products. The results of Study 2 reveal that when consumers are in a sad (happy) emotional state, the higher (lower) they perceive the similarity of their experiences with the cause, the greater their WTP increases owing to processing fluency. Study 3 reconfirms the mediating roles of perceptual and conceptual fluency irrespective of text‐based and visual advertisements for CRM, thus showing the robustness of the construal fit effect on the enhancement of the two types of processing fluency across advertising contexts. These findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of the construal fit between emotional and perceptual experiences in enhancing processing fluency in CRM and suggest that marketers can create a teaser ad that induces either a sad or similar experience or a happy or less similar experience before introducing a CRM campaign.

Concerns about being viewed negatively by outgroup members can have harmful implications for intergroup interaction. In line with the information search model, research suggests that trying to empathize with outgroup partners—by virtue of still involving taking outgroup members’ perspective—can lead right back to evaluative concerns. The present experiment (276 dyads) tested the model’s further prediction that—by virtue of still involving a focus on the self—stimuli that typically instantiate private self-awareness and prompt enhanced self-regulation also lead right back to evaluative concerns and their disruptive effects in interaction settings. Higher and lower prejudice White individuals (HPs and LPs) turned their self-view on or off during an online exchange with a partner with a marginalized racial background. Although there were some exceptions, results were generally consistent with predictions: Racialized individuals benefitted when HPs engaged in self-observation, but everyone was better off if LPs could not watch themselves.
