“…To overcome these obstacles, we systematically reviewed available studies related to the gut microbiota and shrimp (L. vannamei) diseases. The collected data included four lifestages (larva, juvenile, subadult and adult) and six diseases of shrimp, namely, mysis mould syndrome (MMS) (Zheng et al, 2017), WSSV (Wang et al, 2019;De Souza Valente et al, 2020), AHPND (Chen et al, 2017;Yao et al, 2018;Dong et al, 2021), retardation syndrome (SR) (Xiong et al, 2017b), WFS (Xiong et al, 2017a;Alfiansah et al, 2020) and 'Cotton shrimp-like' disease (CSL) (Zhou et al, 2019) (Table S1). The causal pathogens of WSSV, AHPND and SR were enveloped double-stranded DNA virus of the Nimaviridae family (Kulkarni et al, 2014), Vibrio species hosting plasmid-borne binary PirAB toxins (Liu et al, 2018), and obligate microsporidian parasite of E. hepatopenaei with the pVA1 plasmid (Thitamadee et al, 2016), respectively.…”
