White-light-emitting phosphor: CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+, Mn2+ and its related properties with blending

Abstract: The CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+, Mn2+ phosphors show three emission bands peaking at around 450nm (blue), 580nm (yellow), and 680nm (red). The blue band originates from the allowed f-d transition of Eu2+ ions on Ca sites. The yellow and red bands originate from the forbidden T14-A16 transition of Mn2+ ions on Mg2+ and Ca2+ sites, respectively. Electron paramagnetic resonance measurement demonstrates that Mn2+ ions occupy two different Ca2+ and Mg2+ sites. The mixtures of the green-poor CaMgSi2O6:Eu2+, Mn2+ and the green-to… Show more

“…The CCT values of the synthesized phosphors were found to vary from 1658-6221 K. Generally, for commercial lighting purpose, a CCT value greater than 5000 K ascertain the cold white light. The obtained CCT value (6221 K) for the near white light emitting phosphor has good agreement with the CCT value of standard daylight at noon (D65, 6500 K) suitable for cold near white light emission [60,61]. These results affirm that synthesized phosphors by this solution combustion route are promising materials for producing white light emission.…”

“…Use of SrMgAl 10 O 17 :Eu [7] and CaMgSi 2 O 6 :Eu [8] has been advocated as blue emitting component of a phosphor blend for plasma display panels (PDP). CaMgSi 2 O 6 :Eu coactivated with Mn 2+ has also been proposed for solid state lighting [9]. Nitrides such as Sr 2 Si 5 N 8 :Eu 2+ [10,11] have shown high potential as red-emitting conversion phosphors for two phosphor white light emitting diodes (WLED).…”

“…CCTs of Mn 2? ions doped ZnO nanopowder is 5231 K. Generally, CCT value [5000 K indicates the cold white light used for commercial lighting purpose and \5000 K indicates the warm white light used for home appliances [23]. Hence, this material may be used in white light display devises.…”
