“…Dy 3+ doped NPs are generally studied due to their potential applications in white light emission as the emission band of Dy 3+ doped materials exhibit intense blue, yellow and red emission lines at around 480, 580 and 680 nm respectively corresponding to the transitions 4 F 9/2 → 6 H 15/2, 13/2 and 11/2 [5,6] and the same is observed in our previous studies in various host materials like LaAlO 3 :Dy 3+ [7], Zn 2 TiO 4 :Dy 3+ [8], MgAl 2 O 4 :Dy 3+ [9], Mg 2 SiO 4 :Dy 3+ [10], MgO:Dy 3+ [11] etc. Realization of white light is possible by adjusting the intensity ratio of yellow to blue (Y/B).…”

“…As the powder sample diffuses the light in large quantities with a greater thickness, the absorption spectra becomes more complicated to interpret. In order to minimize this difficulty, DRS along with Schuster–Kubelka–Munk (SKM) relation has been used [ 36 , 37 ] which can be given as where R is the absolute reflectance of the sample and F(R) is the Kubelka–Munk function.…”

“…Phosphors with properties such as long-standing, better brightness, quick response and good quantum efficiency are very much essential to reach the needs of the devices. Spectroscopic nature of sharp 4f-4f transitions of RE ions undoubtedly leads to ligand dependent luminescence sensitization, large stokes effect which is needed to convert UV or Near UV to visible light [1]. RE electronic transitions (4f-4f ) provide long lasting narrow emissions owing to the shielding effect of its 4f-shell electrons.…”
