White biotechnology for green chemistry: fermentative 2-oxocarboxylic acids as novel building blocks for subsequent chemical syntheses

Abstract: Functionalized compounds, which are difficult to produce by classical chemical synthesis, are of special interest as biotechnologically available targets.
