When the testing gets tough, the tough get ElasTest

Abstract: We present ElasTest, an open-source generic and extensible platform supporting end-to-end testing of large complex cloud systems, including web, mobile, network and WebRTC applications. ElasTest is developed following a fully transparent and open agile process around which a community of developers, contributors and users is collected. We demonstrate ElasTest in action by testing the FullTeaching application: the video is available from http://elastest.io/videos/icse2018-demo . CCS CONCEPTS• Software and its e… Show more

“…Depending on the hardware and the SUT, this fact might lead to flaky tests [41]. Regarding troubleshooting, observability tools like the ELK (ElasticSearch, Logstash, and Kibana) stack [42] or ElasTest (https://elastest.io/) [43] could help alleviate this problem.…”

“…This paper has been done in the context of the ElasTest (https://elastest.io/) project, which is an H2020 European Union funded initiative. ElasTest has born with the big ambition of providing a comprehensive solution to ease the process of development, operation, and maintenance of end-to-end tests for different kind of applications, including web and mobile among others [20]. WebRTC is a relevant demonstrator technology in ElasTest, and thus, this work is a part of the research efforts in this line.…”

“…FRAP [4]). ARRESTT [2] covers reproducible software testing methodologies, and Elastest [1] covers programmable end-to-end testing with failure injection in the cloud. Further techniques have been proposed to continuously monitor runtime and security properties of composite cloud applications but without capturing the observations as datasets [3].…”
