“…Some known reasons for attrition in the present sample were inherent to expectations of the training process itself, such as the requirement for CITs to have a client with whom to practice the CBT skills. Although sustained access to a practice client can be a barrier to entry, if clinicians-in-training do not implement the new skills relatively quickly, the likelihood of doing so in the future decreases ( Herschell et al, 2010 ; Lau et al, 2020 ), highlighting an implementation double-bind. These findings suggest value in clearly communicating the expectation, with advance notice, to prospective CITs that they will need to identify and be ready to practice skills with a client as an element of training.…”
