When Candidates and Vote Distribution Matter: A New Indicator of Electoral Competitiveness

Abstract: The electoral competitiveness among candidates vying for single elected positions (e.g. president, members of parliament single member districts, or candidates for the party leadership) lacks an appropriate measurement.
