What to Expect: Medical Quality Outcomes and Achievements of a Multidisciplinary Inpatient Musculoskeletal System Rehabilitation

Abstract: The incidence of chronic diseases is rising. Rehabilitation plays a vital role in preventing and minimizing the functional limitations associated with chronic conditions and aging. Routine outcome measures include disease-specific and unspecific general health parameters. This study evaluates indicators for medical quality outcomes from 10,373 patients (61.00 AE 13.65 years, 51.7% women) who have undergone orthopedic rehabilitation for three weeks. Inpatient rehabilitation reduces lifestyle-related risk factor… Show more

“…Our success indicators are formed by summarizing the compulsory clinical data. 14,18 1. The GHI is the arithmetic mean of 3 independent variables: body shape [body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference], cardiovascular measurements (blood pressure and resting heart rate), and discomfort [visual analog scales for pain (VAS pain , 0e10) and subjective self-evaluation (EQ-VAS, 0e100)].…”

“…The following is an example calculation for the ISI in orthopedic rehabilitation. 18 Standard scores, also called z-values (z), are calculated by subtracting the (population) mean (m ORT ) from an observation (X À pre or X À post ) and dividing this difference by the standard deviation seen for all orthopedic patients at admission and discharge (SD m ). As shown in the results section, deviations from zero and respectively mean differences in z-values (SMD) can be interpreted as an effect size (cf.…”

“…Lately, complex methods of influence have been widely used in corrective pedagogy and rehabilitation, Budyakova (2020). On the other hand, rehabilitation and conductive pedagogy in terms of MDs are considered in many aspects, including rehabilitation organization (Arkadyeva et al, 2019;Fedorenko et al, 2020); psychological rehabilitation programmes (Razuvaeva et al, 2021;Sinkevich, 2018); a synergy of medical treatment and multidisciplinary rehabilitation (Grote et al, 2019). Scholars and practitioners involved in the social and professional rehabilitation of children and young people with MDs are developing and implementing new methods and techniques of social rehabilitation in rehabilitation centres (Sarancha et al, 2021;Sheremet et al, 2019;Karasievych, 2021;Berbets et al, 2021;Demchenko et al, 2021;Prots, 2021;Kosholap et al, 2021).…”

“…[22,23] Outcome measurements are widely used in routine clinical rehabilitation and health care, but current and published results of multiple medical outcomes with individual patient data for inpatient health prevention programs are rare. [24][25][26][27]…”
