Social behavior is closely linked to self-efficacy, which is the individual’s confidence or belief that they can successfully complete a task in a given situation. The advent of social media classified social behavior as online and offline sociality, and has cultivated inconsistency in online and offline social behavior of university students, an issue that has come to prominence in scholarly research. However, the relationship between this inconsistency and self-efficacy is worthy of investigation because this particular confluence of behavioral concepts has been rarely been researched. In this paper, online and offline social behavior is integrated, a typology for university student social activities established, and the correlation between different types of social activity and student self-efficacy investigated, with a specific focus on those with notable inconsistencies in their social performance. The following findings are reported. First, as online social networking has become the dominant form of social interaction, the types of social activity have increased, with one-third of university students showing inconsistent online and offline social behavior. However, different types of social activities have varied effects on the self-efficacy of university students, with differences between general self-efficacy, which is significantly above academic self-efficacy, and social self-efficacy. These effects are also different for students with inconsistent online and offline social performance; those who are active online show higher self-efficacy than those who are active offline. This study shows online social network interactions to be more closely related to student self-efficacy than offline interactions.

Despite the exponential growth of social media use, whether and how social media use may affect entrepreneurial entry remains a key research gap. In this study we examine whether individuals’ social media use influences their entrepreneurial entry. Drawing on social network theory, we argue that social media use allows individuals to obtain valuable social capital, as indicated by their offline social network, which increases their entrepreneurial entry. We further posit the relationship between social media use and entrepreneurial entry depends on individuals’ trust propensity based on the nature of social media as weak ties. Our model was supported by a nationally representative survey of 18,873 adults in China over two years. As the first paper on the role of social media on entrepreneurial entry, we hope our research highlights and puts forward research intersecting social media and entrepreneurship.

Academic discussions on cultural intelligence (CQ) are now paying attention to their potential utilization from various angles. The field of study is expanded not only in business administration but also in psychology, education, tourism, communication, and arts. This is due to the widespread study of global communication competence in multicultural situations because of the deepening of globalization. In this paper, we try to find a way to utilize cultural intelligence model proposed by David Livermore. The aim is to develop education contents for the improvement of cultural intelligence of university students. The target is limited to university students and aims to develop education contents to enhance their cultural intelligence. The main purpose of the study was to measure and analyze the cultural intelligence of university students. For that, the level of cultural intelligence of Korean university freshmen was measured and analyzed. The individual level of the four areas constituting the cultural intelligence was identified, and the difference between the male and female was examined. At the same time, the differences in cultural intelligence were analyzed according to the duration of multicultural contact and experience in the case of foreign language lectures taught by foreigners. Finally, we analyzed how the correlation between the four areas that comprise cultural intelligence is occurring, and as a result, the content and results of this study are expected to be an important foundation for the direction of future development of education contents in universities.
