Identifying available farmland suitable for agricultural machinery is the most promising way of optimizing agricultural production and increasing agricultural mechanization. Farmland consolidation suitable for agricultural machinery (FCAM) is implemented as an effective tool for increasing sustainable production and mechanized agriculture. By using the machine learning approach, this study assesses the suitability of farmland for agricultural machinery in land consolidation schemes based on four parameters, i.e., natural resource endowment, accessibility of agricultural machinery, socioeconomic level, and ecological limitations. And based on “suitability” and “potential improvement in farmland productivity”, we classified land into four zones: the priority consolidation zone, the moderate consolidation zone, the comprehensive consolidation zone, and the reserve consolidation zone. The results showed that most of the farmland (76.41%) was either basically or moderately suitable for FCAM. Although slope was often an indicator that land was suitable for agricultural machinery, other factors, such as the inferior accessibility of tractor roads, continuous depopulation, and ecological fragility, contributed greatly to reducing the overall suitability of land for FCAM. Moreover, it was estimated that the potential productivity of farmland would be increased by 720.8 kg/ha if FCAM were implemented. Four zones constituted a useful basis for determining the implementation sequence and differentiating strategies for FCAM schemes. Consequently, this zoning has been an effective solution for implementing FCAM schemes. However, the successful implementation of FCAM schemes, and the achievement a modern and sustainable agriculture system, will require some additional strategies, such as strengthening farmland ecosystem protection and promoting R&D into agricultural machinery suitable for hilly terrain, as well as more financial support.

The No.1 document of the Central Government of China has been on the theme of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" for nearly ten years, placing the solution of "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" at the forefront of the Chinese government's work. Located in the Central Plains, Henan Province in China is one of the major agricultural provinces in China and plays an extremely important role in the field of agricultural production in China. This paper uses an empirical approach and the DEA-Malquist model to study the efficiency of rural public financial inputs to rural revitalisation in Henan Province. The results show that due to different levels of regional economic development, the efficiency of rural public finance investment in Henan Province in promoting rural revitalisation varies, and there is a phenomenon of unreasonable allocation of funds. At the same time, the region's agricultural base also has a greater impact on the efficiency of financial investment. Therefore, Henan Province should adjust measures according to the different regional economic levels and agricultural bases to improve the efficiency of the use of fiscal funds.

Comprehensive land consolidation (CLC) is a strategy to promote the intensive, efficient, and sustainable use of land, and is of great significance in repairing degraded land in oases, reversing the decline of the countryside, and activating multiple values of land use. However, how to scientifically assess and zoning management of CLC in dryland oases remains an open question. In this study, a comprehensive analytical framework was established to assess the characteristics of land‐use transformation and the potential for CLC using remotely sensed and geospatial data and spatial analysis methods, a multi‐objective territorial differentiation model, and collaborative path for CLC in oasis villages was proposed. The following key results were obtained. (1) From 2009 to 2018, urban and rural settlements in the hinterland of the Weiku Oasis expanded by 40 km2, and shrub forests and grasslands in the oasis‐desert transition zone shrank substantially by 21.13 km2. The newly cultivated farmland in the oasis‐desert transition zone only offset 62.9% of the occupied farmland in the hinterland of the oasis. (2) The pattern of comprehensive rural land consolidation potential in the Weiku Oasis was consistent with territorial differentiation, with a gradient decrease from the hinterland of the oasis to the desert. The average potential for Comprehensive land consolidation (PCLC) index was 0.31. (3) Three consolidation priorities and six consolidation types were identified for the proposal of 14 combined modes of CLC. Territorial differentiation with respect to the combined modes was discussed. Overall, this study provides useful insights for promoting efficient and sustainable utilization of oasis land resources and implementing zoning management.
