In the context of (digital) human–machine interaction, people are increasingly dealing with artificial intelligence in everyday life. Through this, we observe humans who embrace technological advances with a positive attitude. Others, however, are particularly sceptical and claim to foresee substantial problems arising from such uses of technology. The aim of the present study was to introduce a short measure to assess the Attitude Towards Artificial Intelligence (ATAI scale) in the German, Chinese, and English languages. Participants from Germany (N = 461; 345 females), China (N = 413; 145 females), and the UK (N = 84; 65 females) completed the ATAI scale, for which the factorial structure was tested and compared between the samples. Participants from Germany and China were additionally asked about their willingness to interact with/use self-driving cars, Siri, Alexa, the social robot Pepper, and the humanoid robot Erica, which are representatives of popular artificial intelligence products. The results showed that the five-item ATAI scale comprises two negatively associated factors assessing (1) acceptance and (2) fear of artificial intelligence. The factor structure was found to be similar across the German, Chinese, and UK samples. Additionally, the ATAI scale was validated, as the items on the willingness to use specific artificial intelligence products were positively associated with the ATAI Acceptance scale and negatively with the ATAI Fear scale, in both the German and Chinese samples. In conclusion we introduce a short, reliable, and valid measure on the attitude towards artificial intelligence in German, Chinese, and English language.

BackgroundEndoscopic submucosal dissection has become the primary option of treatment for early gastric cancer. However, lymph node metastasis may lead to poor prognosis. We analyzed factors related to lymph node metastasis in EGC patients, and we developed a construction prediction model with machine learning using data from a retrospective series.MethodsTwo independent cohorts’ series were evaluated including 305 patients with EGC from China as cohort I and 35 patients from Spain as cohort II. Five classifiers obtained from machine learning were selected to establish a robust prediction model for lymph node metastasis in EGC.ResultsThe clinical variables such as invasion depth, histologic type, ulceration, tumor location, tumor size, Lauren classification, and age were selected to establish the five prediction models: linear support vector classifier (Linear SVC), logistic regression model, extreme gradient boosting model (XGBoost), light gradient boosting machine model (LightGBM), and Gaussian process classification model. Interestingly, all prediction models of cohort I showed accuracy between 70 and 81%. Furthermore, the prediction models of the cohort II exhibited accuracy between 48 and 82%. The areas under curve (AUC) of the five models between cohort I and cohort II were between 0.736 and 0.830.ConclusionsOur results support that the machine learning method could be used to predict lymph node metastasis in early gastric cancer and perhaps provide another evaluation method to choose the suited treatment for patients.

Terör yüzyıllardır insanlığın mücadele içinde bulunduğu bir güvenlik problemi olarak devam etmektedir. Son yıllarda yapay zekâ, makine öğrenmesi ve büyük veri teknolojilerinin gelişmesi ve farklı alanlarda giderek artan kullanımı ile paralel olarak terörle mücadelede de bu teknolojilerinin kullanıldığını görmekteyiz. Bu çalışmada, terörizmle mücadele için makine öğrenmesi ve büyük veri teknolojilerinin kullanımı incelenmiştir. Makalede ilk önce terör konusunda erişime açık veri kaynakları hakkında bilgi sunulmaktadır. Daha sonra literatürde son yıllarda bu veri kaynaklarını kullanan makaleler için yapılan tarama sonucu paylaşılmıştır. Oldukça fazla sayıda makale tespit edilmiş olmakla birlikte bunlardan sadece belirli sayıda çalışma yapay zekâ ve büyük veri teknolojilerinin kullanımına odaklanmıştır. Özellikle bu konulara odaklanan çalışmalar detaylı olarak incelenerek, ele alınan problemler, kullanılan çözüm yaklaşımları ve alınan sonuçlar karşılaştırmalı olarak sunulmaktadır.
