What Does Differentiation Mean?

Abstract: The nature of definitions is discussed, and a working definition of “biochemical differentiation” proposed. Using this definition, the sequential and parallel events controlling “biochemical differentiation” in four systems is described, and the similarities to secondary metabolism noted.
