What Determines the Demand for Redistribution and What Can We Expect from the Nearby Future: Empirical Evidence for Spain

Abstract: In this article, we seek to determine the main explanatory factors of individual preferences for redistribution in Spain. Methods. We use data from the World Values Survey capturing economic factors, political preferences, personal beliefs, and sociodemographic characteristics. Results. The results, obtained using both OLS and ordered logit regressions, reveal that factors regarding relative household income, personal beliefs, sociodemographic characteristics, and regional differences are the main determinants… Show more

“…Table 4 shows the empirical analysis results of the relationship between nudge interventions and WSB using the Ordered Logit model and the ordinary least squares (OLS) model. The OLS estimation results can be considered as a robustness check (Imai and Sato, 2014;Martín-Legendre et al, 2021;Wooldridge, 2010). Ologit1 only examined the impact of four nudge tools on residents' WSB, excluding individual characteristic covariates; Ologit2 is the result considering individual characteristic covariates on the basis of Ologit1.…”
