“…Many hospitality studies have examined the industry by identifying critical success factors (e.g., Brotherton and Shaw, 1996;Hua et al, 2009 ;Zhang et al, 2013). For example, Brotherton and Shaw (1996) conducted a survey of critical success factors for UK hotels, investigated the individual departmental/functional aspects of hotel operations, and concluded that the following factors are highly crucial for successful hotel operations: service and customer care; staff quality, which includes attitude, skill, and appearance; hotel product quality; revenue and profit; safety and hygiene; and cost efficiency.…”

“…A study on the success of budget hotels in China considered the perspective of various stakeholders, including customers, industry professionals, government authorities, and hotel investors, and identified five dimensions of critical success factors (i.e., physical product, service quality, price, promotion, and location) that are deemed important by such stakeholders; the sequence of importance differed substantially among these groups, but customers were primarily concerned with service quality issues (Hua et al, 2009). Using home inns as a study case, Zhang et al (2013) found the following six critical success factors for budget hotels in China: people, timing/contextual factors, strategic choices, managerial and operational efficiency, performance/product, and home inn culture. However, most previous studies have focused on the models that bring success to luxury or large-scale hotel groups (Zhang et al, 2013).…”

“…Following the 2007 financial crises, many hotel chains have increased the distribution of rooms in their limited-service units (Lomanno, 2010). Unlike full-service and/or luxury hotels, these units provide high value offerings (Fiorentino, 1995;Zhang et al, 2013b;Lai et al, 2014). In line with the trend to increase the value of service consumption, previous research shows that numerous factors are critical for quality service and customer satisfaction, including utility, service, amenities, and security (Choi and Chu, 1999;Dolnicar, 2002;Tanford et al, 2012;Dedeoglu and Demirer, 2015).…”

“…Moreover, apart from the manufacturing setting, it is gaining increasing interest among researchers and practitioners in the service industry. Its increasing importance is due to the profound impact suppliers have on costs incurred by purchaser firms within the supply chain and the quality of these firms' end products (Zhang et al 2013). Moreover, suppliers have been known to play an important role in the support of a firm's competitive strategy.…”
